In the Wild - Geoffrey Butler Cycles 10 speed
This beauty caught my eye at the local shops, a lovely English bicycle from a South London shop I hadn't heard of before, Geoffrey Butler Cycles. From what I can tell GB Cycles had many of their frames built locally; this one bears a 531 sticker. Geoffrey was the younger brother of the better known Claud Butler, also a bicycle dealer & frame builder. What a nice shade of blue too - very similar to my most recent find, a Raleigh Sprite.
It's impossible to know how many parts are original to the frame but it looks like a great set-up, nice GB stem, elegant Made in England rack, Weinmann centre-pull brakes, shapely Silstar cranks (by Sakae), Lyotard pedals. Shifting through a Shimano 500 rear derailleur. 27 inch alloy wheels. Quite international. A rough guess would place it as a mid to late 70's frame.
